The 1/20 oz gold maple leaf coin is the smallest Maple Leaf the Royal Canadian Mint makes. They make great gifts for young people, as well as a beautiful centerpiece in jewelry. However you should know that you're going to be paying a bit more in a premium for the smaller size coin. You see, it basically costs the same amount of money to stamp out a gold coin, whether it's a 1 oz, or a 1/20th oz blank. Proportionally speaking, the amount of money you're spending for the premium is going to be higher on the smaller coin, and the 1/20 oz Maple Leafs have the highest premium of the bunch. For example, if a 1 oz Maple Leaf is currently trading at $1200, and the spot price of gold is $1130, your premium is $70, which is about 6%.

Now if a 1/20 oz Maple is going for $90, the premium is about $34, or 38%. As you can see, that's quite a difference. This should not dissuade you from buying the coin as a gift or jewelry focal point, but if you want to invest in gold you may be better served with a larger coin.
