Hologram Maple Leaf
According the their 2006 annual report, the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) created their first ever hologram Maple Leaf back in 1999. The cutting edge technology was a gold bullion first, and has become of the hallmarks of the mint's craftsmanship. The hologram was released as part of a 5 coin set commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin. Since that first hologram the mint has produced a variety of awarding winning hologram coins for special occasions. For example, they created a beautiful loon hologram to honor the 15th anniversary of the C$1 coin in 2002. The Olympic Games have a variety of coins- not just a single one for the games as a whole, but a beautiful collection based upon the events themselves.

You can find a hologram Maple Leaf from downhill skiing all the way to curling. The RCM also launches coins to mark the Chinese lunar year- in late 2009 they released an issue to honor the Year on the Tiger, designed by Harvey Chan. The hologram Maple Leaf is prized by collectors (over standard investors in bullion), and as such is usually packaged in a set.
