It gains its popularity from its purity. Since, it contains 99.99% pure gold, which is known as the international symbol of purity. Does it matter of the coins have minor scratches on them. I heard that it can be normal as they coins are pure gold? Does the value go down?

For the regular coins (not proofs), minor wear and tear does not affect value. They’re primarily a gold bullion investment vehicles, so a little wear is fine.
